Mobile First World: Welcome to Reality

Mobile First World: Welcome to Reality

If you still have it in your head that mobile web design and application development is just a niche industry, it’s time to change your way of thinking. Mobile isn’t a trend or an up and rising market, it’s the present.

The reality is there are over 1.2 billion mobile web users worldwide, mobile apps have been downloaded 10.9 billion times, and in the US alone 25% of mobile web users are mobile-only.

It’s no longer enough to just have a website. An increasing number of people expect to be able to operate entirely through their smartphones, either through mobile-friendly websites or apps. So many people are searching through mobile that Google is changing their search algorithm – which, historically, has always served as the universal push for companies to update.

If you’re asking for payment through mobile interactions (and chances are, you want to), investing in a mobile app will increase your sales, as it’s viewed as more secure from the user’s perspective – if it’s a high-quality app. Your app will be as valuable as a storefront. Have an equal amount of care in its creation and management, and you’ll profit substantially.
