An Amy Schumer Inspired Brand

An Amy Schumer Inspired Brand

When you’re building your brand for your app business (or any business) you kind of have to think of it as a person. Take Amy Schumer for instance. For those of you who have had the pleasure of listening to her on stage or seen her on the big screen, you know just how real and raw of a comedian she is. That’s the impression your app’s brand should relay.

As we’ve said before in previous Nerdy Talk blogs; when creating an app business, your idea has to solve a problem. Soon after you’ve found a problem you can elegantly solve and make a profit off of, then you’re on your way to branding your company. Branding your app company is important – consider what’s driving your business. This, of course, is an easy target point if your company or your idea is your passion. What does your company believe? What is its purpose and who are its brand heroes? These things can help establish you’re moving brand positioning and inform the identity of brand communication.

Be innovative, bold and daring – stand for something you’re passionate about. Amy Schumer gets to the point and she doesn’t bore you – as should your app’s brand. She’s blunt (sometimes brutally blunt), she’s simple, she’s different, and she’s not perfectly polished, like an app. Don’t try to be safe and mimic the look of chains or big brands because you’ll fall behind those big brands. We think you should have a simple problem that your solving and don’t try to make an app for everyone! Schumer has found her niche, and she knows the audience she’s speaking to. Keep it simple – find your niche, and find your audience. When you’re passionate about your idea/company, and you’ve found a brand that’s bold, simple and raw – your app business is unstoppable!

The most common thing we hear about our companies brand is our dog, Kona. Miss Kona may not be written in our brand strategy but she’s a big part of our company. With Kona by our side, friends and clients can get a true feeling about how real and personable we are. Amy Schumer’s brand is clear-cut; you know what kind of comedian she is after you’ve listened to her once. Her brand is attractive, it’s raw, and people understand it. When developing your apps businesses brand – aim for Amy Schumer.

Amy Schumer recently said on Saturday Night Live that “it’s an exciting time for women in Hollywood,” the same could be said for apps in the app market today.
