The Modern Business Standard & Value of Free

We are fixated on ROI, cutting costs, maximizing efficiency, and making more while producing less. We live in a world controlled by a standard of efficiency. But nowadays, efficiency is no longer how we do things.

Those working in the startup or mobile app industry can’t focus purely on efficiency like we did in the past. The modern business is generating value. In the chaos of today’s digital space, creating huge value is the only way to cut through the noise. If a mobile app business doesn’t create enough value for users, it won’t just see fewer users and lower profits – it will see no users and no profits.

Back then, one could start a business with a mediocre product and common service and probably expect to skate by as a mildly profitable, marginally successful business. Today, though, there are simply too many apps for the world to work like this. A mediocre business generates no returns. It takes substantial value to generate returns, and until that level is reached, there’s no payoff. But once it is achieved, the payoff is very rewarding!

Operating in the app market means you can’t focus on amplifying your efficiency and blowing up your margins as fast as possible – it means that you must generate value, before all else. And likely, you should give it away – for free. Free value is a reliable way to attract attention, create trust, and sell your brand to potential users.

In the end, we all profit from this. It gives more consumers a chance to try different brands, generating more revenue for businesses.
